27th Black Nights Film Festival
Recently freed from prison in Russia, Valentina (Maria Klenskaja) heads back to Estonia on a quest to find her son Jüri (Andreas Kangur), who she had given up for adoption years ago. With the conviction that their reunion will be a happy ending, Valentina searches high and low until she finds her son in Tartu, adopted by a wealthy family. Reconciliation turned out to be more challenging than she had expected.
“A Stolen Meeting” was the last film by Leida Laius, whose oeuvre focused on portrayals of strong female characters. “A Stolen Meeting” is no exception in this regard.
