A multicultural neighbourhood in South-East London. Irina lives in an enormous block of flats owned by the city, one of the last strongholds of the British social system. Originally from Bulgaria, she is bringing up a five-year-old son. Unlike her neighbours, Irina owns her flat and does not live on benefits. She aspires to climb the social ladder in British society and deeply despises people living off the government. Meanwhile, the hysteria surrounding Brexit and plans for the neighbourhood’s gentrification put pressure on a community that has been living in peace for a decade. A lost cat acts as a catalyst for a serious conflict between the neighbours.
Based on true events, the film explores the sudden alienation of multicultural communities in the heart of London.
“This timely immigrants’ eye view of the UK certainly feels like a story which needed to be told.”
