The name Carine Roitfeld might not sound familiar to many, yet she is one of the most influential people in the whole fashion industry. The woman whose closest friends include Tom Ford, Diane von Furstenberg, Karl Lagerfeld, Donatella Versace etc was for ten years the editor-in-chief of the monthly fashion bible – the Vogue magazine – in France.
“Mademoiselle C” focuses on Carine’s life a couple of years back when she made the decision to leave her job and face new challenges. She moved from Paris to New York and launched her own magazine “CR Fashion Book”. The woman who had been named one of the world’s most stylish people could now devote herself solely to projects close to her heart and getting ready to be a grandmother.
Carine has said that she was worried about the possible feedback to the movie. She is regarded as a fashion icon who is always perfect – but the reality is different. “What I would like is for the audience to say “Fashion is cool!” at the end of the movie. Because that’s how I live my life — with lightness and without pretension.”
