After Midsummer's Day Kertu (Ursula Ratasepp) goes missing without a trace. Her entire family panics because Kertu is considered to be a simpleton due to her modest and closed nature. After a long search Kertu is found trembling and hiding under the bed of the alcohol-loving womanizer Villu (Mait Malmsten). The judgemental villagers chastise Villu and accuse him of taking advantage of the woman. But what really happened on that night? The slowly unraveling truth is more shocking than anyone could ever imagine.

Written and directed by Ilmar Raag the motion picture "Kertu" is an unusual love story that takes place within a tiny village community and depicts hidden relationships of the villagers and one family. The film asks about a person's right to love and to happiness even if the right to make decisions has been taken away.
